JUPITER’S YEAR-LONG JOURNEY THROUGH LIBRA – WHAT WILL IT MEAN FOR THE WORLD, AND FOR YOU?

Jupiter INCREASES everything ruled by the sign in which it travels. On the positive side, that means enjoyment of abundance. On the negative, it means fuzzy boundaries, which can lead to poor choices.

LIBRA RULES (among other things) law and justice, lawyers (but not judges), courthouses, libraries and librarians; public relations and public disputes; business partnerships and lawsuits; marriages and divorces; words spoken in public, such as speeches and recitals, especially those intended to influence others; kidneys and the medical specialties, personnel, and facilities which treat kidney diseases; laws and regulations meant to make society operate fairly and safely for everyone.

We can expect all of those to get “bigger,” richer (more well-funded), and more in-our-faces during Jupiter’s 2016-2017 year in Libra.

An old belief (from hundreds of years ago) said that the symbol for Libra reflects not only a symbolic scale, with two sides balanced against each other, but also that the dome shape in the center represents the domed structures on many (ancient and classical-style) buildings – those which house Libra-ruled items and activities … libraries, courthouses, government regulatory agencies, etc.

WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IN THE WIDER WORLD AS A RESULT OF JUPITER IN LIBRA?

We could see mass public marriages, the (publicized) impulsive forming and/or dissolving of legally-bound relationships (celebrity marriages that happen suddenly and dissolve quickly; big business mergers, some of which don’t work out.)

We’re likely to see an increase in high-profile lawsuits of all kinds.

It’s interesting to note that many of the most high-profile and celebrity criminal trials tend to occur while Jupiter is traveling through either in Libra or Sagittarius. Jupiter rules the elite members of society and both Sagittarius and Libra rule the law. (JUPITER IN LIBRA: Michael Jackson trial; Saddam Hussein trial; Scott Peterson trial; Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling massive securities fraud trial; Tom Delay, former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, money laundering trial; Lyle and Erik Menendez murder trial; Lorena Bobbitt penis attack trial; actor Robert Blake murder trial. JUPITER IN SAG: O.J. Simpson trial; Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh trial; Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss trial; Melanie Brown/Scary Spice paternity lawsuit again Eddie Murphy.

New “Celebrity Status” lawyers will emerge. In fact, business may get so good for lawyers, and appear so glamorous, more than the usual number of young people may decide to go into law as a profession.

Jupiter also exaggerates any other planetary energies in the sky that it touches. In Libra, a Cardinal sign, it will translate (hyperactivate) the continuing Uranus-Pluto square, forming and t-squaring the planets of chaos/radical change and transformation/death.

I expect fireworks in the international news (most likely more major terror attacks) when out-of-bound Mars in Capricorn also joins this formation in October, then joins it again from Aries in January (See my upcoming post, WHAT’S UP WITH MARS? for more detailed dates).

JUPITER IN LIBRA TRANSITING YOUR NATAL CHART

For individuals, a change in Jupiter's (or any transiting planet's) influence is felt much more when it changes HOUSES in your natal chart than when it changes signs. A transiting planet might travel through three signs in a single natal house, still affecting the same house-ruled issues of your life while in all of those signs.

But if Jupiter moving into Libra means it will also change natal houses in your chart --- or that it will aspect natal planets that rule house cusps -- you can look for Jupiter's magic there.

Jupiter brings INCREASE, so that's usually great for 2nd (money) or 10th house (career) matters, but maybe not so great in the 1st or 6th. (I know MANY people who gain weight every 12 years, when Jupiter transits their 1st!)

JUPITER IS NO MORE POSITIVE THAN SATURN … UNLESS YOU CONSCIOUSLY *USE” HIS ENERGIES TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!

I hate to say it, but it’s true … contrary to the misleading, simplistic silliness you can read about Jupiter all over the internet, JUPITER IS ACTUALLY NO MORE OR LESS OF A BLESSING than any other planet as he transits your natal chart.

If you TRULY want to enjoy Jupiter’s “good side,” you must be aware of all the good AND BAD potentials that he can bring, and consciously guide your life issues toward the good.

Here’s a simplified example of what to expect – and what to either encourage or discourage – in the house where Jupiter currently travels in your natal chart:

1st House – POSITIVE: Optimistic attitude and seeing oneself in a more positive light. A magnanimous spirit. NEGATIVE: A tendency to exaggerate, even lie. A tendency to overdo in all things. Physical weight gain.

2nd House – POSITIVE: An increase in financial resources and ease. NEGATIVE: Over spending without a care for financial consequences.

3rd House – POSITIVE: Expanded mental horizons. Going back to school or getting new training. Prolific writing. NEGATIVE: Talking too much, just to release nervous energy. Developing a habit of lying or exaggeration.

4th House – POSITIVE: Redecorating, renovating, or expanding your home, or moving to a larger, better home. NEGATIVE: Buying a home or financing a renovation project that’s beyond your financial means. Allowing people to move into your home who will become a burden to you or others you live with.

5th House – POSITIVE: Increased creativity and/or fun and recreation in your life. Adding new children to your family, possibly even twins or triplets. A great increase in your sex life. Good fortune comes to your child. NEGATIVE: Using fun and recreation excessively, for escape. Irresponsible sexual activity, even sex addiction. Gambling addiction and loss of resources.

6th House – POSITIVE: Increased activity in your daily routines. Robust health. Improvements in work environment NEGATIVE: Overdoing some parts of your routines. Reckless disregard for physical limitations, which causes health problems. Overwork; a dangerous work environment.

7th House – POSITIVE: Meet a prominent new partner, perhaps marry. Current spouse experiences good fortune. Enter into an advantageous business partnership. Win a lawsuit or other legal case. NEGATIVE: Rush into a poorly thought-out marriage or business partnership. Spouse or partner acts recklessly. File a frivolous lawsuit or legal complaint.

8th House – POSITIVE: Family/marriage joint assets increase. Inheritance received. NEGATIVE: Joint assets mired in debt from overspending. Tax debts.

9th House – POSITIVE: Admission to a prominent college or training program. Scholarship money received. Money available for travel. Meet prominent people. NEGATIVE: Impulsive decisions regarding travel or choice of college lead to problems.

10th House – POSITIVE: Career gains. Awards for accomplishments. Reputation shines. NEGATIVE: People see you as a reckless risk-taker. Career expands so fast you lose control of its path.

11th House – POSITIVE: You make prominent friends. You make many friends who can help you attain your goals. You expand work and community projects with help from a wider network of people NEGATIVE: You meet so many new people, you don’t have time to screen them for reliability. You meet people who “talk big” but don’t deliver on what they promise. You become lax in your boundaries regarding whom you allow into your life.

12th House – POSITIVE: Increased quiet time for meditation and reflection. Major inspiration for life goals and creativity come from “nowhere” to guide you in important ways. Art/music/creative projects that were previously blocked become possible. NEGATIVE: Relaxed social boundaries attract unsavory and unreliable people into your life. Increased drug or alcohol use. Time wasted in escapism.

POSITIVE OE NEGATIVE?

Generally, in the charts of my clients and others I have studied, the positive manifestations of this (or any) transit are more likely when the transiting planet makes no natal aspect, or easy contacts, like trines and sextiles (sometimes conjunctions). The negative manifestations are more likely when the transiting planet makes oppositions, squares, and quincunxes.

BUT – no matter what aspects it makes from a particular house, the most important determiner of whether a planet transiting a house will manifest positively or negatively is ALWAYS THE NATIVE’S AWARENESS OF THE POTENTIALS AND THEIR CONSCIOUS EFFORTS TO GUIDE THE ENERGIES INTO HIS/HER PREFERRED MANIFESTATIONS.

HOW I WILL USE JUPITER FOR GROWTH IN MY OWN CHART

Jupiter will move into my 6th soon, even though that cusp is 18 Libra -- Jupiter will move unusually FAST for the next few months, then go Rx for a while.

I plan to add new exercise routines to my daily habits (health habits, ruled by 6th), a positive use of Jupiter's hyperactive energy. Jupiter will soon activate my natal Cardinal t-square, anchored by a Saturn-Neptune conjunction in my 6th, so I’ll have to take special care not to strain or injure my knees, legs, ankles, or feet by overdoing it …. a reckless Jupiter tendency. (I have a lifelong history of such problems whenever that t-square has been activated by transit.)

Since Saturn and Neptune rule the 9th and 11th houses in my chart, I expect Jupiter’s conjunctions to them to stimulate some big and optimistic plans for my future :-)

Eventually, Jupiter with conjunct my Sun and Mercury in the 6th, but that’s over a year away … when he gets into Scorpio.

ECLIPSE OUTCOMES … THE GOOD … THE BAD … AND THE "STARTS OUT BAD BUT TURNS OUT GOOD"

SHOULD *YOU* FEAR AN UPCOMING ECLIPSE, PREPARE FOR IT, OR LOOK FORWARD TO ITS BLESSINGS?

That depends.

WHERE WILL THE UPCOMING SOLAR ECLIPSE LAND IN YOUR CHART?

SOLAR ECLIPSE / NEW MOON, AT 9-21 VIRGO – SEPTEMBER 1, 2016, 5:03 AM EST

Do the affairs of that house seem overripe for change?

Do you have long-held hopes and dreams related to the affairs of that house?

Have you stored up energies in that house which could bear great gifts – or explode into out-of-control consequences?

Have you been doing things you KNOW you shouldn't do related to the issues ruled by that house? Have you neglected the affairs of that house, so you have a mess on your hands which you've been trying to ignore?

OR have you built a "great castle" in that house, richly furnished and wondrous, and you just need a sign saying when to move in?

Answer those questions honestly and you will probably know what might happen for you, within a year before and a year after a Solar Eclipse. In fact, it has probably already begun to happen.

(ALL OF THE ABOVE also applies to any house ruled by a planet conjuncted by the Solar Eclipse, up to 3 degrees orb, sometimes even 5 or 6, if it is a powerful, long-duration, Total Solar Eclipse).

USE IT, DON'T FEAR IT

Some people get scared when I post my eclipse articles. They've heard all the superstitious nonsense (yes, even some astrologers indulge in spreading dire superstitions!) and they can't help but feel fear.

If you are an energy-sensitive person, you might also feel the unstable energies which abound during eclipse seasons. And we all see that news stories get more chaotic and violent during most eclipse seasons.

But like nasty aspects between outer planets (such as the Uranus-Pluto square), the results of Solar Eclipses in Personal Lives/charts are not usually as dramatic as the manifestations in the mundane world.

ALSO LIKE OUTER PLANET ASPECTS, NOT ALL SOLAR ECLIPSE MANIFESTATIONS ARE NEGATIVE …

… IN FACT, SOME ARE DRAMATICALLY POSITIVE.

I call the personal Solar Eclipse effects "Breakdowns or Breakthroughs." I judge the effects based upon the tangible affairs ruled by the house where the Solar Eclipse falls and (if there is one) any house(s) ruled by a natal planet which the Solar Eclipse conjuncts.

Not all Solar Eclipses cause the same magnitude of effects. Much depends on the "potential energy" stored in the issues of the native's affected house(s).

For instance, Tiger Woods' (see examples below) enormous SE Breakdown would not have been possible without his own deceitful 5th house activities preceding it.

Struggling Single Mom's wonderful SE Breakthrough would not have happened without her previous financial misfortunes.

Read these real-life examples, and you will see … you might just as easily get a delightfully positive surprise as an unpleasant one, when a Solar Eclipse visits or reflects upon a house in your natal chart.

THE GOOD

** UNHAPPILY SINGLE WOMAN -- In her late 40s, she's never been married or even lived with a guy, and hasn't dated in years. She's a hopeless romantic and figures she will never meet a guy who lives up to her fantasies, so she almost gives up. I see that a Solar Eclipse will conjunct her natal Sun in the 5th, ruler of her 7th, and advise her to try an online dating service as the eclipse approaches. The first guy she dates turns out to be her proverbial Mr. Right! They marry and live happily ever after. (Or at least so far, for the past 10+ years.)

** STRUGGLING SINGLE MOM – She ran a home-based business for more than 30 years, but it hadn't been earning enough to money pay her bills for about the past 10 years. In desperation, she had been living on the equity in her home for most of that time. The property values had skyrocketed in her neighborhood since she purchased the home, but her house was smaller than most and needed many upgrades to appeal to modern buyers. She had gotten to the point where she had USED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN EQUITY and couldn't afford the payments anymore, eventually paying her mortgage (and all of her other monthly bills!) with more of her equity every month.

She decided to put the house up for sale at a time when a Solar Eclipse was about to exactly conjunct her Sun in the 2nd house (finances), ruler of her 4th house (home and real estate). Her expectations were low but the house sold quickly – and a bidding war pushed the price up to almost a million dollars! She was able to pay off ALL she owed on the house and every other bill she had, with more than $300,000 left … part of which she spent on a new, less expensive home in a retirement community. She went from overwhelming credit card and mortgage debt to NO mortgage, NO debt, AND THE ABILITY TO RETIRE all in the action of ONE SOLAR ECLIPSE!

** COUPLE IN THEIR LATE 30's – Married for 15 years, trying desperately for a child for 10 years. They even went to a fertility doctor, to no avail. Just when they quit trying and had began to discuss adopting, TWO Solar Eclipses land in their composite 5th house (yes, Eclipses work just as well with Composite charts as with natal!) They had a baby that year, just a month after one of the eclipses. The baby's Sun conjuncts his Mom's Venus, and I have never seen a more adoring mom than her! He's now grown into a model citizen.

THE OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD

** UNEMPLOYED WOMAN – She really needed a job. But her heart had longed for years to go back to school. She also longed to travel to Europe. But she had no money at all, barely enough to (hopefully) last until she got a job. Then she heard about a professional organization that granted overseas scholarships to students who wanted to earn a Master's Degree overseas. She was not an ideal candidate – the judges preferred younger students, just out of undergrad school. (She was in her mid 40s). They preferred grantees who planned to go for a Master's in the same major as their Bachelor's. (She had a BA in business, but wanted to go for a MFA, Master of Fine Arts). Some of the judges discouraged her application. But when I saw that she had two upcoming Solar Eclipses landing in her 9th house (which rules advanced studies, grants, and long distance travel), I told her to GO FOR IT! One of the eclipses even landed right on her 9th house Moon, which also rules her 9th. It was the perfect set-up and she GOT THE GRANT! They also paid for her living expenses while she attended a University in England, and traveled to France on her off times. Her dream of a lifetime, fulfilled!

** JIMMY PAGE – Leader of the super-band. Led Zeppelin. But he didn't start his career that way. His incredible guitar talents had him playing (uncredited) on some of the biggest hits that came out of the early 1960s rock and roll scene in London. He was only in his teens then. He did time with other groups, including the Yardbirds, but none of his early gigs fulfilled his true ambition – to form a super group that would take the music world by storm. He wanted to write his own songs and take the creative lead in his music career. His vision firmly in place, he found the lead singer of his dreams when he saw Robert Plant perform in a small town. They released their first album in 1969, and went on to mega-success, all their lives forever changed by it. Jimmy had two Solar Eclipses fall in his 10th house of career and fame during the first two years of LZ's greatest success. One of those eclipses conjuncted Robert Plant's Mercury, ruler of his 10th house.

** ME – As I mentioned in another eclipse post, I had a Solar Eclipse in my 7th house a few months before my divorce. But it's the REASON for my divorce that made this outcome Outrageously Good … I had met the Man of My Dreams, LITERALLY. I'd had a dream ten years before and I saw this man in great detail in the dream. Leaving my husband for him was a risk … Dream Guy was 11 years younger than me. Nothing about it made sense (that Eclipse Non-Linear feeling!), except that IT FELT SO RIGHT. So I went with it, and Dream Guy and I are still together, more than 30 years now :-)

THE BAD

** MARRIED WOMAN – Happily married for 15 years. Solar Eclipse in Pisces landed in her 7th house, conjunct her North Node. Her husband confessed to her that he’d been deceiving her – he’s gay and has been all his life. They divorce. She’s devastated for a while but remains friends with her ex- and his new, male partner.

** WORKING MAN – Employed at the same company for 8 years, so valuable, departments fought over who could use his services next. Solar Eclipse conjuncted his MC and within two months, he was laid off, due to a corporate takeover. His MC ruler is very well aspected and it did turn out to be a blessing in disguise, after temporary stress and hardship.

** WOMAN IN HER 50's – She looked wonderful to me, but this client of mine asked me if it was a good time for her to get cosmetic surgery, specifically one designed to make her face look younger with synthetic fillers. I advised her to wait more than a year because she was about to have a Solar Eclipse in her 1st house and the results might not be predictable. She asked me if I thought it would be okay if she thoroughly researched the procedure and felt okay about it. I told her that I still wouldn't advise it. So she did it anyway, and did NOT research it first. If she had done even a basic web search, she would have learned that there have been massive numbers of complaints about this particular procedure, which often degrades into lumps in the face, making the person look worse than before, even deformed. Worse yet, it sometimes causes an autoimmune reaction that results in something called temporal arteritis, where something that looks like a giant, burst vein pops out of your forehead. She suffered all that and more, and I was very sorry to have been right in my advice on that one.

** COUPLE -- Both in their 50's, marry after a 2-year relationship. It’s a second marriage for each, and all looks rosy for an early retirement and some wonderful times ahead. He treats her like the Queen of the Universe. Then a very powerful Solar Eclipse occurs on their Composite chart Sun. I see it and realize something is about to change in their relationship. I tell her that, within 6 months, they won't recognize their marriage. Sometimes these are good changes but often not, so I just advised the woman to be alert. In a few months, she finds porn and contacts with prostitutes on his computer. (It gets so much worse, I can't even say it all here.) Needless to say, they are now divorced.

** ELIZABETH SMART – Famous kidnapping victim. Six months before her kidnapping, a Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius (rules “people unlike you”) landed in her 11th (people you know casually) conjunct her natal Uranus/Saturn conjunction (rulers of her 1st house of self-conception and 12th house of secret enemies, enslavement, and imprisonment). The kidnapper had met her before, when he did work on her family's home. Most of us know the story but, if not, you can read about it here:

** TIGER WOODS -- A textbook case ... Solar Eclipse conjuncts his natal Mercury in the 5th house (love affairs), which rules his MC (career and reputation). Two months BEFORE the eclipse, his Thanksgiving night fight with his wife occurs and that leads to the now infamous complete "eclipsing" of his formerly spotless reputation, his brilliant career, and losing him all of his lucrative sponsorship deals. It took him years to regain any of his former aura of success, and his image (10th house) has never completely recovered.

** BILL CLINTON and MONICA LEWINSKY – An unusual and AMAZING case! These two people have very similar chart wheels and experienced a series of Solar and Lunar Eclipses in their 5th houses (lovers, love affairs) and 11th houses (friends, colleagues, and voting bodies such as Congress) in the years leading up to and spanning their big sex scandal. Amazingly, their now notorious love affair, and the involvement of Monica's friends and colleagues (11th house) leaking the story, led to Congress (11th house) voting to impeach Bill Clinton! This story has so many Solar Eclipse (breakdowns) and Lunar Eclipse (shocking revelations) features, it would take a whole book to properly analyze them.

** MONICA TODAY – Monica Lewinsky had a Solar Eclipse at 0 Scorpio in her 1st house – and therafter embarked on a campaign to reinvent her self-image as a supporter of those who have been plagued by internet bullying.

THE "STARTS OUT BAD BUT TURNS OUT GOOD"

AL GORE – Another textbook case. Within 18 months of the historic and notorious 2000 Presidential Election (which was decided by the Bush v. Gore case in the U.S. Supreme Court), Al Gore’s chart took some hard angular hits from Solar Eclipses, the most intense of which was the August 2000 Solar Eclipse in his 1st house, conjunct his natal Mars, ruler of his MC. Being declared the election “loser” by the Supreme Court crushed everything about Al Gore, particularly his self-concept (1st house) and drive (Mars – his lifelong goal was to become president). Since Mars rules his MC, world opinion of him also transformed, but it did so according to his own reinvention. Not satisfied settling down with the label of “former Vice President,” Al Gore reinvented himself in an image much more aligned with his long-time concern – the environment. He began calling himself a “recovering politician” while the world began to see him (MC, reputation) as a passionate crusader for the environment, an author, a filmmaker, and a Nobel Prize winner.

Now, THAT was an eclipse BREAKDOWN that transformed into a spectacular BREAKTHROUGH!

It’s notable that Gore’s election opponent, George W. Bush has an almost identical chart wheel to Gore and also had that Solar Eclipse land in his 1st house. But Bush does not have his Mars in the same place, and so the ruler of his MC (also Mars but in Virgo) was not affected by that eclipse. He still had the Breakthrough effect in his 1st, and could now redefine his self image as ‘Mr. President’.

PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS: I've noticed that many people get important, even national or international awards within a year of having a Solar Eclipse occur in their 10th or 11th houses.

THE 10th RULES HONORS AND AWARDS, BUT WHY THE 11th?

Many awards are given through a process of VOTING, either by a board or a larger membership, like the Academy Awards. The 11th house rules the voting process and thus the approval of peers. Albert Einstein had eclipses in his 10th and 11th before receiving the Nobel Prize. Steven Spielberg finally won an Oscar (after 15 years of superb filmmaking) when two Solar Eclipses fell in his 11th house, one year after the next.

NUMEROLOGY PERSONAL MONTH CYCLES

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT SEPTEMBER? NUMBER 9 ... NUMBER 9 ...

I practice Pythagorean Numerology – the original form of numerology, created by the Greek philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoras.

(As a side note, I find it remarkable that mathematicians also used to practice numerology, just as astronomers also used to practice astrology. That ended about the time that human civilizations decided to split left-brain and right-brain processes and come to scientific and technical conclusions that left out any consideration for the consequences of their actions to nature or the human spirit.)

But enough from my inner philosopher. :-)

If you use numerology – on its own or to enhance your astrology practice – you know how to calculate your Life Path.

HOW:
Add all the single digit numbers of your birth date and reduce them down to a single digit (or double-digits for 11 or 22).

Here’s mine as an example (birth date, October 28, 1952):

1 + 0 + 2 + 8 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 2 = 28 ... 2 +8 = 10 ... 1 + 0 = 1

So 1 is my Life Path number. Some people think a Life Path number is supposed to describe your basic personality or character qualities, but that’s not true. The numbers that you derive from your name describe your default personality qualities.

The Life Path number acts more like the North Node – something to strive for your whole life. (If you are lucky enough to derive the same number from your name as you have for your Life Path, that means an easy life, just expressing your inborn qualities.)

But back to the birth date. There are other important calculations you can do with your date of birth: calculate Personal Year, Personal Month, and Personal Day cycles. They work like transits … influences on your experience of a particular year, month, or day.

Using mine as an example again:

10 – 28 – 1952 This time we ignore the year and just add up the month and day:

1 + 0 + 2 + 8 = 11 = 2

Then I use the number 2 to calculate my Personal Year cycle by adding it to the present Universal year:

2016: 2 + 0 + 1 + 6 + 2 = 11 = 2 (But some people do not reduce 11 to a single digit)

2016 is an 11/2 Personal Year cycle for me.

(I’m not going to go into detail about how to interpret all the Personal Year numbers, but you can find websites online that discuss this. And in my group, we do have a group file – under the Files tab above – called Personal Year Party Form, uploaded here, where you can find basic Personal Year number information).

So now you have your Personal Year cycle for 2016. To see which Personal Month cycle you will experience each month, just add the number of the month to your Personal Year number.

For January, I added 1 to 2 and got a 3 Personal Month.

February was 2 + 2 = so that was a 4 Personal Month, and so on.

SEPTEMBER IS UNIQUE!

If you do these calculations for your own Personal Month numbers, you will see something interesting about September ... IT’S THE ONLY MONTH OF THE YEAR WHEN YOUR PERSONAL *MONTH* CYCLE IS THE SAME NUMBER AS YOUR PERSONAL YEAR CYCLE.

That’s because when you add any number to 9 and reduce it down to a single digit, you always get that other number.

Nine is numerology neutral in the sense that it always acquiesces to the other number ... blends into and becomes it.

For me, that means 2016’s 2/11 Personal Year energies will double in concentration due to extra 2/11 Personal Month energies being added.

The same goes for your Personal Year number, whatever you have this year.

1 doubles the leadership challenge.

2 doubles the need to serve.

3 doubles the fun and self-expression.

But the downside of each number doubles, too.

1, 3, and 5 have to be extra careful not to flitter away time or be irresponsible.

2/11 and 6 must be more careful not to interfere in the lives of others.

4 and 8 must be more careful not to overwhelm people.

And 7 and 9 should avoid following too many bright, shiny objects, just to see where they might lead.

Of course, these positive and negative Personal Month (or Year) cycle tendencies are either subdued or enhanced according to your Life Path and Name Numbers.

But if you look at those tendencies as (for instance), not necessarily what anyone would call "irresponsible" but just “irresponsible for YOU,” then you get what I’m saying.

MAGICAL TRANSFORMATIONS – HOW SOLAR ECLIPSES BRING NON-LINEAR AND SOMETIMES DRAMATIC CHANGE TO YOUR LIFE

This is one part of my regular postings for each Eclipse Season. You might not have seen it before or might want to read it again (I have revised it a bit.) :-)

A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon during which the Sun and Moon conjunct each other, not only by longitude (degree of a sign), but also by declination, or celestial latitude. That’s why they line up perfectly enough for the Moon to (at least partially) obscure the disk of the Sun.

Some people see this as a metaphor for emotions (Moon) obscuring reason (Sun).

That lunar dominance (lunacy) usually shows up in crazy news stories around eclipse times and we’ve certainly seen that happening recently.

But there’s another form of lunacy that takes place around Solar Eclipses, the kind that happens in personal lives, families, and communities. It seems crazy because it seems to come out of nowhere – it's …

NON-LINEAR CHANGE

When you go to college with a full course of study for four years, you expect to get your diploma and then get a job in a good career. That’s a typical linear progression of changes during a certain phase of life.

But what if, after two years of study, the college suddenly offered you a full degree and diploma and sent you to work for a company, making more money and doing different and more enjoyable work than you ever expected? THAT would be a non-linear change ... shocking and unexpected but (in this example) welcome! Of course, there might be unpleasant non-linear changes, too, but I won’t invent any of those.

Like any New Moon, a Solar Eclipse begins a new lunar cycle. And as at any New Moon, you can see where a Solar Eclipse lands in your natal chart to discover where something new might develop in your life, according to the house, sign, and any conjunctions to natal planets involved.

If a Solar Eclipse conjuncts a planet that rules a house cusp, the new developments might involve that house’s affairs, as well.

A series of New Moons make a linear progression through the signs and through the houses of your chart. The progress of our affairs touched by them usually seem linear. The changes make sense.

But when we have a Solar Eclipse New Moon, something unusual takes place. The energies of the Moon’s North and South Nodes, conjunct and opposing the Sun, move our earthly affairs suddenly, joltingly forward. Things we couldn’t have anticipated happen in ways that seem "out of order."

SUBJECTIVELY, THINGS WE DIDN’T EARN, DON’T DESERVE, AND DIDN’T EXPECT POP INTO OUR LIVES.

Wherever a Solar Eclipse lands in your chart – especially if it touches an angle or conjuncts an important planet – we often see more than just important new developments ...

WE SEE THE ALMOST MAGICAL EFFECT OF INCONGRUOUS, NON-LINEAR CHANGE.

Whatever new patterns start under the influence of a Solar Eclipse New Moon won’t just be felt for the lunation cycle, as is often the case with a regular New Moon. Solar Eclipse changes will likely go on for at least a year or for many years – even the rest of your life. You’re just sitting around, playing a nice game of Monopoly, then suddenly an unseen force moves your game piece. You "skip go and collect $200 – or $200,000!!" Or you “go to jail,” depending.

NON-LINEAR ... INCONGRUOUS ... LIKE THE IMAGINED ACTION OF A TIME WARP OR A BLACK HOLE.

If you think of the times when your life changed in such a way, look back on the Solar Eclipses that occurred within a year before and a year after.

I did that study years ago when I wanted to begin learning about eclipses. What I found floored me – how consistently the big changes I had experienced coincided with the affairs of the houses which had recently hosted, or would soon host, a Solar Eclipse.

I CALL IT THE "BREAKDOWN OR BREAKTHROUGH" EFFECT OF SOLAR ECLIPSE LOCATIONS IN NATAL CHARTS.

Brief examples of my findings in my own chart:

- Two Solar Eclipses, one in 1964 and another in 1965, both landed in my 1st house. (1st House rules Appearance and Self-Perception). I transformed from the one of the fattest, most unpopular kids in school to a beautiful, super-popular pre-teen and teen, who every guy wanted to date and every girl wanted as her bff. I had to completely rethink who I was and how to relate to other people. I was used to kids taunting me and throwing things at me. Suddenly they were all nice to me. I had to learn how to interact all over again. Beauty changes everything!

- Later in my teens, a SE (Solar Eclipse) landed in my 5th (rules love affairs), two months before the start of a love affair that changed my whole life and transformed who I was as a person, forever. My lover/first husband was murdered – with me present – a few months into the relationship, resulting in permanent Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder—PTSD – from which I still suffer to this day.

- An SE landed in my 7th (rules marriage) ... a few months before my divorce – and also when I moved in with the man who would become my third husband (to whom I am still married today, 30+ years later).

- SE landed in my 10th (rules career) before I made the most sudden and unlikely career change ever, on the verge on not being believable ... I went from farming chickens to writing and directing short films that were translated into dozens of languages and distributed in 60+ countries around the world ... from seeing famous actors on TV to meeting them and directing them on film.

- SE landed in my 9th house (rules faraway places) a few months before I let my husband talk me into suddenly moving 3300 miles away, sight unseen, to a place neither of us had ever visited, knew nothing about, and where I had never wanted to live. (But it was on both our Venus Dsc lines and now I still live here and LOVE it!)

I have many, many more examples in my own chart, my family, friends, clients, and celebrities … not just in natal charts but also using composites. I have also seen it work in the charts for incorporated governments and organizations.

NOTE: I have also searched for correlations of such changes with Lunar Eclipses. Although Lunar Eclipses do seem to have an emotional, unsettling effect for a month to three months, my study did not find the kind of huge, permanent Breakdown or Breakthrough effects I found with Solar Eclipses.

In fact, in my work with eclipses and where they fall in natal charts, I have found Lunar Eclipses to have about 1% of the power of Solar Eclipses to bring significant changes to the native's life.

People have argued with me about this but I am convinced of my findings because of the way I've conducted my research. If someone sees activity in the issues of a house where a Lunar Eclipse falls, they point to that as proof of the Lunar Eclipse's power. But they forget that a Solar Eclipse has already occurred in that house 6 months ago and/or will occur in the house 6 months later. Solar Eclipse effects are super-powerful and can last from a year before to a year after the eclipse.

I can often tell which eclipse (the lunar or the solar) is responsible for changes in the native's life because they will happen at different degrees and often only one will conjunct a planet that rules another house. The additional activation of the affairs of that ruled house provides the test of WHICH eclipse actually sparked the changes.

ECLIPSE READING REALLY WORKS!

And you can USE IT to anticipate where the big changes in your life will likely come from … and INTERVENE with a plan to INTENTIONALLY AND POSITIVELY MANIFEST the energies the way you WANT them to manifest!

BUT DO SOLAR ECLIPSES ALWAYS BRING A REAL BREAKTHROUGH OR BREAKDOWN?

It's a fun exercise to go back and look at where Solar Eclipses have fallen in your chart and can be quite enlightening. But I have this one caveat ... some people feel fear about what they will find and what will happen after a current eclipse. Others feel eager anticipation and get disappointed if they don't experience a life-changing breakthrough.

CHANGE, ALWAYS. BUT NOT ALWAYS EPIC …

We have two or more solar eclipses every year, which, means we either get two in one house or they cover two houses or more each year,

Obviously, some houses have issues that are more "ripe" for huge changes than others. What happened to Tiger Woods, his Big Breakdown (see my other eclipse article containing real-life examples), hasn't happened to him twice each year since then. His profound deception of his wife and the public amounted to nothing less than living a double life, with his acts of betrayal relating to both houses that particular eclipse affected, his 10th (career) and 5th (lovers, sex life).

So something new will always emerge from the natal house where an eclipse falls in your chart. But a huge build up of your energy, your effort, your pain, your need, or your deception will not always be there, ready to pop like a giant balloon, when a Solar Eclipse sticks it like a pin.

However, you can always create enough “ripeness,” in any house, for you to exploit the Solar Eclipse energy into something you'd like to manifest in your life.

Find the date and you can find the sign, degree, and where each Solar Eclipse of your lifetime landed in your natal chart.

Then determine the house(s) where the next two or three Solar Eclipses will land for you. Proactively plan to pre-empt those Solar Eclipse actions to your liking.

Clean up the issues of the house(s) in which they will occur. Make positive efforts in the areas of life ruled by those houses. Then watch the upcoming Solar Eclipses pop those balloons and make the good consequences rain down upon your life like a good karma piñata. :-)
